Gettysburg - Hersheys - Penn State - 3 days 2 nights

This trip was very special to us as I was taking my graduation walk for my Masters degree. Two years of being a student, mom with a full time job finally paid off and now its the end of my student journey.  Thanks to my family for all the support, especially my encouraging husband and understanding son for helping me complete this journey.
We thought we will see the local attractions during this trip. The nearest airports to Penn State was a minimum 7 hours drive and we chose to fly into the Baltimore Airport. We visited during the month of May.

Day 1: Baltimore - Gettysburg - Harrisburg
Our flight landed in the morning in the Baltimore airport, and after renting a car, we started driving to Gettysburg - 1 hour 30 mins.
This town has an historical importance as its known for the Gettysburg National Battlefield, which is now knows as the Gettysburg National Military Park. The main significance is the site of Abraham Lincoln's 1863 Gettysburg Address.

We reached Gettysburg around 11 AM and went to the visitor center. There is a wonderful museum there and we can easily spend an hour there. Be sure to collect the map of the Gettysburg historic spots. They are clearly numbered and the directions are very clear. You can take the car to all the spots and parking was not an issue.

Our first stop was the 'Lincoln's Gettysbug address memorial'. All the stops were very informational and had historic significance.

We were lucky to see the demonstration of the civil war with uniform, guns and the pellets used.

We went to all the stops and then stopped at Mr. G's ice cream for a break and treat. There is a huge parking lot behind the ice cream shop and it was safe.

After that we strolled to the Gettysburg Train Station and quick stops at David Wills House.

It was almost evening and we were tired after an exhausting history filled day. We got back in our car and drove to our night accommodation in Harrisburg - around an hours drive.

Day 2: Hersheys - Penn State
We left the hotel after breakfast around 8 AM and headed to Hershey Town to the Hershey Chocolate World. We decided not to go to the Hershey Park and spent our time in the Chocolate World. We took the free factory tour and learnt about Hershey and how chocolate was made.  I wouldn't say that the prices of the chocolate was lesser, so we decided not to buy a lot of chocolate as we had to travel back by air. But do buy their Hot Chocolate mix, it is absolutely delicious and I do not find that in any other stores. There is a small cafe at the back where we had their famous milk shakes.

We quickly drove to the Hershey Hotel to click a few pics and then started driving to Penn State - around 2 hour 15 minutes drive.

Evening was the graduation walk, so we checked in at the hotel and the evening was well spent on the graduation ceremony.

Day 3: State College
The day was well spent going over the State College and checking out the university. We walked through the full university and clicked pics wherever possible. Don't miss a picture with the Nitany Lion!

Be sure to go to their Creamery. The university has their own diary research center and the creamery is a part of that. They had a huge variety of ice cream flavors. After spending almost till afternoon in the university, we started driving back to Baltimore Airport to catch our flight back home.
