One Day Trip to Dana Point - Southern California

Dana Point is a harbor city in Orange County, Southern California. A very beautiful place and exactly 1 hour drive from San Diego. There are a lot of things that can be done for more than a day, but we went here for a day trip with friends for a picnic lunch.

There are lots of beautiful beaches and trails and makes a perfect weekend getaway to get away from the normal routine.

We left home around 9:30 AM and reached there by 10:30 AM. Drive straight to the Dana Point Interpretive Center, there are a very few parking spots in front of the center but quite a few road side parking.

Dana Point Interpretive Center:
There is a beautiful nature trail that takes around 30 minutes, stroll with a beautiful ocean view. This is open only on Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8-4 pm.

Harbor Point Conservation Park - Quick overlook point with a very small trail

Hilltop Conservation Park - There are multiple trail entrances from the road with a flight of stairs and it is a flat trail overlooking the ocean.

Baby Beach:
If you are visiting with kids, this is a must stop place as the water is very calm and a perfect spot for you to relax in the sun and the kids to play in the water.

There is a park just next to the beach - Dana Cove Park where we had our picnic lunch and the kids were enjoying the afternoon in the water.

Other beaches to visit:
Dana Strands Beach
Doheny State Beach

Bluff Top Trail:
Do make a visit to this spot, it is the best location to get the picture perfect view of the place.

Dana Point Harbor: To end the beautiful day we took a stroll in the Dana Point. There are plenty of parking spots and the stroll takes around 30 minutes.
